Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières Ballot Millot 2012
The wine
Meursault Genevrières is produced from 65-year-old vines. The wine is perfectly balanced with a good level of acidity, a creamy texture, plenty of complexity and a delightful length. It pairs well with a wide range of dishes (sauce based preferably), from poultry, to scallops to frog legs.
About the Producer Ballot Millot
Domaine Ballot-Millot, located in Meursault, is a historic family farm of the Côte de Beaune, which has been in existence since the 17th century. Charles Ballot has been running the domaine since 2000 and is the fifteenth generation of his family at the head of the vineyard. The farm, which today extends over 12 hectares, has very fine plots of Meursault, Pommard and Volnay. For the last ten years or so, a much more natural and environmentally friendly approach has been taken for vinification: chemical weed-killers have been banned for soil tillage, and their treatment has become more sustainable and parsimonious. Charles Ballot produces very pure, classy and elegant wines. The whole range is very regular and of a high standard. Furthermore, this domaine maintains very reasonable prices!
