Cognac Otard VSOP
The wine
The "Part des Anges" ["Angels' Share"] is the poetic term used to describe the evaporation that occurs when Cognac is left to age in barrels. The term now refers to a yearly gathering, bringing the men and women of Cognac together for a charity event.
This year, the "Fée du Paradis" is representing the 4th edition of an event that was founded by the Interprofession du Cognac in 2006.
This auction sale offers collectors the opportunity to bid on truly exceptional, even unique, bottles of Cognac offered up by generous donors. Profit from sales will be donated to the Fondation de France.
A combination of 3 Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie predating the Roaring Twenties, it surprises through its aromatic power dominated by lively notes of leather subtly enhanced by notes of wet undergrowth reminiscent of the banks of the Charente in the pale dawn light, and the cellars of its château. It opens with a full-bodied kick to the palate, harmoniously combining heart notes of fresh walnut, candied fruit and fully-developed rancio. Its boasts extreme intensity and length on the palate. Its extravagant character is also illustrated through a slightly astringent flavour emerging in the finish, in a nod to its ancient hundred-year-old eaux-de-vie.
