Château Trianon 2016
The wine
This Saint-Emilion Grand Cru comes from forty-year-old vines that grow on a soil rich in iron, clay, sand and red gravel. After being hand harvested, the grapes are sorted and then vinified in thermoregulated stainless steel or oak vats. The wine is raised in oak barriques (60% new, the rest already used for a previous wine). In the glass, the wine boasts an intense nose rich in fruit and spiced notes. The mouth is generous, and the tannic structure bestows the wine with immense ageing potential. Pair with characterful dishes.
About the Producer Trianon
Château Trianon has been one of the finest estates in the south-west of the Saint-Emilion appellation since the 16th century. It was bought in 2000 by Dominique Hébrand, at the time co-owner at Cheval Blanc, who raised the quality of these wines immeasurably. The estate has since been classed as a Grand Cru. 10 hectares grow there, with 80% Merlot and the rest a mix of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère.
