More info

Hereafter Here is crafted from young vines, grown in two plots by collaborating winemakers located in Stellenbosch. The first plot, known as Baby Duck, can be found on a gentle slope sitting on granite soil in the Polkadraai Hills. The second, located in Upper Blaauwklippen Valley, has deep red soil. Both of them grow Chenin Blanc, harvested by hand and placed in small crates before being sorted and then pressed as whole bunches. The domain approaches the winemaking process with very little intervention, aiming to allow the terroir to shine rather than the winemaker. Natural yeasts carry out the work fermenting the grape juice in old barrels. The wine matures on its lees in barrels for twelve months and then a further six months in vats. It is then bottled without fining or filtration.
Hereafter Here reveals its beautiful golden hue as its poured into the glass where notes of white flowers, pear and peach escape. On the palate, it is ample, rich with very fresh fruit flavours, perfectly balanced by its acidity which brings yet more freshness to the glass. A wine to be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with roasted poultry.

About the Producer Alheit Vineyards

This property, established in 2010 by Chris and Suzaan Alheit, is located in South Africa. Before embarking on this venture, this gifted couple had already begun their journey both domestically and internationally working in California, Australia, and even in Germany, where they explored the magnificent terroir of the Mosel region. Through these experiences, they came to appreciate the importance of terroir, which they elevate through the least interventionist methods of viticulture and vinification possible. Unsurprisingly, the crops are hand-harvested, and native yeasts play a significant role in the winery. Convinced that white wines from the Cape Town region are really unique, they cultivate old Chenin Blanc vines, allowing the grapes to undergo alcoholic fermentation in wood. Their outstanding expertise allows the wines to unveil genuine elegance, dispelling any preconceived notions we may hold about southern hemisphere wines.
