Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères Coche Dury (Domaine) 2001
The wine
Nestled in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, the place known as Les Enseignères is located just under the Grand Cru de Bienvenues-Bâtard. Finesse, balance, tautness and length on the palate are terms that are frequently used to describe the wines from Coche-Dury. Featuring notes of roasted almonds and hazelnuts and minerality, it is flavoursome on the palate with a persistent and controlled texture depth and the characteristic persistence of all of the domain's wines.
About the Producer Coche-Dury
Jean-François Coche-Dury is one of the world's leading figures for the vinification of white wines. In 1972 he took over the domain from his father who built it up in the early 1920's. Over the years he acquired new wine parcels. His domain, which today covers just over 10 hectares, counts 8.5 hectares of Chardonnay and Aligoté. He uses a vinification that reinforces the natural expression of the terroir without changing it: gentle pressing, regular stirring of lees in oak barrels, 50% of which are replaced every year. His style is inimitable; he creates pure and elegant wine whose finesse and persistency are quite remarkable. His wines are renowned and sought after by connoisseurs throughout the world. All Chardonnay amateurs must taste these wines.
