Gevrey-Chambertin Domaine Docteur Bizot 1952
The wine
The Gevrey-Chambertin appellation covers 400 hectares and is located at Gevrey, the largest production area in the Côte de Nuits. It has 28 Premiers Crus and several very good cuvées under the Village appellation, which more than make up for the fact that this appellation has no Grand Crus.
Each with their own individual style, the Gevrey-Chambertin wines express the richness and diversity of the Burgundy terroir. Full of colour, their intense aromas evoke blackcurrants and other small red and dark fruits with gamey undertones, and often liquorice once the wine has matured. Strong, with beautifully mellow tannins, they have just the right amount of sharpness. These structured, robust wines are designed for keeping.
