A wonderful example of a Nebbiolo which deserves a few years’ élevage to be fully enhanced.

Barolo DOCG Bric del Fiasc Paolo Scavino 1997
The wine
This cuvée was vinified for the first time in 1978 by Enrico Scavino and his father, who was keen to demonstrate the potential of the parcel which produces the Nebbiolo grapes. This grape develops its typical character after several years' keeping. Dense, well-structured and complex, with refined tannins, it is enhanced by a characteristic acidity. The palate features seductive notes of red berries and balsam. A lovely wine for drinking with good food: well worth waiting for.
About the Producer Paolo Scavino
Paolo Scavino's domaine produces approximately 120,000 bottles annually on his 23 hectares in the Barolo region. The domaine, which was established in 1921 by Paolo Scavino is still a family-run business producing fine wines from autonomous grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Enrico Scavino and his daughters currently produce top-flight cuvées, which are complex and elegant, across 19 crus.
