Vin de France Cuvée S Hirotake Ooka - Domaine La Grande Colline 2012
The wine
This is the S cuvée from Domaine La Grande Colline, found in Saint-Péray. After having worked for a few years with Thierry Allemand, Hirotake Ooka decided to establish his own production with a few hectares of vines and a parallel, merchant business.
This producer carries out truly meticulous work. The treatments used in the vineyard are very minimal and there are no additives in the vinification process. The bunches are sorted grape by grape, keeping only the best ones to produce high-quality wine. There are no sulphites aside from those naturally occurring in the grapes.
This cuvée has a lovely balance of freshness and rich flavour. There is a purity to its fruit, one of the numerous goals this rising-reputation producer has set for himself.
