The wine
From midway up a hill, this is a powerful and bright wine that draws its energy from soil composed of marl, chalk, and pure rocks. The nose reveals a bouquet of black cherry, forest strawberry, coffee, and some gentle spices. The texture on the palate is ample with soft tannins that lead to a persistent, mineral finish.
About the Producer Sylvain Cathiard & Fils
The origins of the Domaine Sylvain Cathiard et Fils date back to the 1920s when Alfred Cathiard began to acquire the first parcels of vines in Vosne. The wine heritage of the family is very prestigious with very fine plots of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Romanée-St-Vivant. The domaine is now managed by Sylvain Cathiard and his son Sébastien. Their wines are of a very high quality and are almost impossible to find in France. They are characterised in particular by their great finesse and their harmony.
