Vin de France Génèse Xavier Caillard - Les Jardins Esmeraldins 2001
About the Producer Xavier Caillard - Les Jardins Esmeraldins
Founded by Xavier Caillard, a biologist by training, Domaine des Jardins Esméraldins was created in Brézé (Saumur) at the end of the 1990s. The vines are grown naturally, following biodynamic principles, and the vinifications involve very little intervention with indigenous yeasts and no added sulphur. Maturation is particularly long, sometimes up to ten years for the red cuvées, and this happens partly in barrels, partly in the bottle. This is a modest domain that has nonetheless been talked about in the world of natural wines, to the point of seeing its hammer price soar in 2019. These wines are noted for their finesse, fluidity, freshness, and depth. And unfortunately, they are almost impossible to find!
