Meursault Domaine Kuheiji 2020
About the Producer Domaine Kuheiji
Nestling 17 kilometres south of Dijon in the heart of Burgundy wine country, the domain is located in Morey-Saint-Denis. The vineyard’s roots lie in the incredible challenge undertaken by Kuheiji Kuno, owner of the Banjo brewery. He had been selling tasty, traditional sake since 2006. In 2013, he decided to travel to France to mount an ambitious project to create a powerful alchemy between wine and sake, by switching the brewing techniques specific to each beverage. The challenge was considerable, and Kuheiji Kuno acquired his first plot in 2013 in Morey-Saint-Denis, followed by a winery in 2015. The domain cultivates over two hectares of vines on east facing slopes at an altitude of around 250 metres, on limestone and clay soils. Be it wine or sake, Kuheiji Kuno applies the same philosophy, aiming to express the flavours of unique terroirs.
