Montrachet Grand Cru Marc Colin & Fils 2005
The wine
Montrachet is often considered to be the best white wine in the world. It offers an astonishing concentration of the qualities of Burgundy's great white wines. These wines, with their rich, complex aromas, reminiscent of hazelnut and honey, are a beautiful shade of bright gold, with plenty of body and firmness – but also mellowness – and an intense, persistent flavour. This is a wine of intense concentration, requiring many years to reach perfection. When at its peak, Montrachet develops an unparalleled aromatic richness and complexity.
About the Producer Marc Colin
Of the many Colins in Burgundy, Domaine Marc Colin is perhaps the most famous. This Saint-Aubin farm has asserted its reputation thanks to his high-flying whites. The domaine has an impressive collection of terroirs in Chassagne and several works of the mythical Montrachet. It is now his children who are at the head of the domaine: Caroline, Damien and Joseph. The quest for precision and accuracy is impressive, whether in the vineyard, during vinification or in the élevage. The red wines are also of a very high quality. A location which is not-to-be-missed in the Côte de Beaune.
