Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles Joseph Drouhin 1990
The wine
Joseph Drouhin's Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Pucelles comes from a vineyard plot located a stone's throw from Bâtard-Montrachet and Montrachet. Its name derives from a mediaeval legend, according to which the Lord of Puligny divided his lands between his children: the eldest son, the "Chevalier"; the girls, or "Pucelles" (virgins); and the "Bastard". It comes from a limestone soil, a mixture of ochre and pebbles. Exuding aromas of linden, marzipan and preserved lemon, followed by notes of dried fruit, biscotte and honey, this wine presents a beautiful freshness, and remarkable refinement and persistence.
About the Producer Joseph Drouhin
Founded in Beaune in 1880, the Joseph Drouhin house is now run by the four children of Robert Drouhin. Present throughout Burgundy, but also in the United States in Oregon, its reputation is worldwide. It also has a domain of its own, including a vineyard of 72 hectares.
