Barolo DOCG Brunate Le Coste Giuseppe Rinaldi 2007
The wine
A legendary name in the prestigious Barolo appellation, domain Rinaldi crafts a superb wine from one of the finest crus: Le Coste. To make the cuvée, the domain carries out a traditional vinification in barrels for a little under a month. The wine is then matured in oak casks for three years before refining for six months in the bottle in the domain’s cellars. This is a Nebbiolo in all its splendour, with a garnet red colour in the glass that leans towards an orange hue. Its aromatic bouquet is defined by notes of red fruit like raspberry and cherry. The palate is a little austere but it has an elegance structured by lovely tannins. Made to be aged, this wine will evolve to have notes of cacao, coffee, liquorice, and leather.
About the Producer Giuseppe Rinaldi
The current owner of the domain, Giuseppe Rinaldi, can trace his viticultural origins back five generations. It was his grandfather, with whom he shares his name, who founded the estate in the 1920s when he bought some of the best vines in the Barolo appellation (Brunate, Cannubi, Ravera and Le Coste). After this, his son Battista undertook a significant task in developing the domain’s vinification techniques. Today, it is his grandson Giuseppe who, keeping to tradition and close to his terroir, manages the estate with great skill.
