Bierzo DO Descendientes de J.Palacios Las Lamas 2011
The wine
This wine comes from a parcel of 1.5 hectares, in the Bierzo area, where the vines only give low yields. The harvests are partly destemmed, vinified in vats, macerated for 40 days. After 20 months of élevage the wine is bottled with neither clarification nor filtration, to respect the natural balance in the wine.
About the Producer Descendientes de J.Palacios
Alvaro Palacios and his nephew Ricardo Pérez Palacios established this highly reputed Spanish domaine. Alvaro Palacios is one of the most renowned winegrowers in th Iberian peninsula. In 1998, the two men fell in love with an almost inaccessible, low-yielding vineyard high up in an isolated mountain village. Motivated by a philosophy akin to the Burgundy ethos, it produces single varietals. The range includes “grands crus” which are made from the most inaccessible parcels of vines.
