Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pierre Amiot et Fils (Domaine) 1982
The wine
The flagship cuvée from family domain Pierre Amiot, this Clos de la Roche is the fruit of carefully considered growing. Agriculture here is organic, so there are no herbicides used, and there is minimal intervention in the process. Grass is allowed to grow in the vineyard to encourage competition with the vines and a healthy microbial life.
To craft this grand cru, the domain blended grapes from five Clos de la Roche parcels and matured the wine in casks for 18 months.
This wine has a deep, ruby red colour. Its fresh and flavourful bouquet is expressed through notes of red berry and cherry. It is clean and frank on the palate, lingering at length thanks to a mineral underscore that confers a certain liveliness. We appreciate the structure brought by its tannins, inviting gastronomic pairings with white meat, stuffed mushrooms, or sweet potato mash.
About the Producer Pierre Amiot et Fils
Pierre Amiot operates this small family property in Morey Saint Denis with verve. The domaine has ideally located plots including 2 grand cru hectares in Clos de la Roche. The Clos-de-la-Roche ages admirably well and over time acquires animal scents that make it very popular with fans.
