Grand Cordon Mumm 1990
The wine
Like Cramant's Mumm, René Lalou (1969) and Mumm's Mumm (1987), the Grand Gordon is a special vintage produced only in the 1990 vintage as a limited edition. This cuvée gives pride of place to Pinot Noir, offering structure and power, complemented by the elegance and refinement of Chardonnay. On tasting, this champagne delivers summer fruit, lychee and pineapple aromas, along with vanilla and honey notes. The palate is characterised by its freshness, complexity, roundness and length. This champagne goes just as well with fish as it does with white meats.
About the Producer Mumm
Founded in 1827 by German wine merchants, Mumm has changed hands several times. In the 1980s, Mumm was the second most-well known Champagne brand. Since its origins, it has concentrated its efforts on export and was a pioneer in the art of adapting its various cuvées to the tastes of different markets according to the country. It is now owned by the Pernod-Ricard group and produces champagnes of consistently-good quality.
