Meursault Coche Dury (Domaine) 1999
The wine
It's easy to forget, but the commune of Meursault produces both colour wines. The reds could be seen as almost incidental, but Domaine Coche-Dury keeps the tradition alive. This is a fresh and concentrated Pinot Noir. Its nose suggests strawberry, bramble, and spice, while the palate is clean and elegant.
About the Producer Coche-Dury
Jean-François Coche-Dury is one of the world's leading figures for the vinification of white wines. In 1972 he took over the domain from his father who built it up in the early 1920's. Over the years he acquired new wine parcels. His domain, which today covers just over 10 hectares, counts 8.5 hectares of Chardonnay and Aligoté. He uses a vinification that reinforces the natural expression of the terroir without changing it: gentle pressing, regular stirring of lees in oak barrels, 50% of which are replaced every year. His style is inimitable; he creates pure and elegant wine whose finesse and persistency are quite remarkable. His wines are renowned and sought after by connoisseurs throughout the world. All Chardonnay amateurs must taste these wines.
