Château Dassault Grand Cru Classé 1998
The wine
Château Dassault is a fine, classical Saint-Emilion. Rather reserved when young, it gradually unfurls aromas of blackcurrant, liquorice and spices. The palate is full-bodied, rich and smooth.
About the Producer Château Dassault
For Michel Dassault, Château La Couperie was love at first sight and having bought it in 1955, he gave it his name. Many investments were made in order to improve the quality of the wines. In 1969 the château obtained Grand Cru Classé status. Today it is Laurent Dassault, the industrialist's grandson, who manages the château. Sustainable farming practices and two rounds of leaf removal help to keep the vines in perfect health, and enable the harvesting of extremely ripe grapes. In order to select the best grapes, the château installed an optical sorting table in 2009. Small concrete vats are used for vinification, enabling the grapes to be separated on a plot-by-plot basis. The wines are aged in new barrels for 14 to 16 months.
