Alsace Pinot Noir Ophrys Valentin Zusslin (Domaine) 2017
The wine
The Pinot Noir which makes up this cuvée comes from a clay-limestone soil which is rich in iron oxide. After 18 months’ élevage in foudres, this wine stands out thanks to the elegance and delicacy of its aromas. On the palate, notes of red fruit, sweet spices and flowers adorn a fine, silky texture.
About the Producer Valentin Zusslin
Domaine Valentin Zusslin is a longtime darling of critics and wine guides (including Bettane & Desseauve and the RVF). The 16 hectare estate which is based in Orschwihr, just south of Colmar, converted to biodynamic viticulture in 1997. Wines are produced from a total of 9 different grape varieties, featuring crystalline whites and structured Pinot Noirs perfect for cellaring.
