Vin de France (anciennement Coteaux du Languedoc) Peyre Rose Marlène n°3 Marlène Soria 2009
The wine
Peyre Rose offers this red wine composed of Syrah, and Grenache as well as Carignan and Tempranillo that have been planted together. The vines flourish on plots where rockroses, heather and shrubs grow. The plots, which are a favourite of the winemakers, are located in the village of Saint Pargoire high in the hills.
The estate uses organic methods with the greatest respect given to the soils. Harvests are conducted entirely by hand after which the wine made from them is aged for a long time over several years in oak barrels.
It has a magnificent deep colour. On the nose, red fruit aromas combine with garrigue, spiced and peppery notes. The palate is ample, fresh and deep, with a beautiful volume and sophisticated tannins.
Serve this wine with red meat dishes serve with a sauce such as beef bourguignon. To savour the best of the wine’s flavours, place it in a carafe before tasting.
About the Producer Peyre Rose
Domaine Peyre Rose was created in the early 1990s by Marlène Soria, on the slopes of Saint-Pargoire between Béziers and Montpellier. The 25-hectare domain is planted mainly with red grapes (70% Syrah, then Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre and Carignan), with two hectares of white (50% Rolle, 40% Roussanne, and various other varieties including Viognier). The domain is certified for organic cultivation, and produces characteristic wines with great concentration and a very long élevage (and an additional bottle ageing before sale). The production is high in quality but limited in quantity, and therefore highly sought after by connoisseurs!
