Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru Le Clos J.A. Ferret (Domaine) 2016
The wine
The ‘Le Clos’ parcel is located between the domain and the village church on a gentle slope that faces east. ‘Tête de Cru’ is a small corner of this parcel where the soils are limestone and clay; deeper down, chalk can be found. The vines are between 20 and 40 years old. The fermentation and maturation are carried out in oak barrels, and this whole process lasts around 9 months. The maturation finishes off with 5 months in stainless steel on lees. This cuvée is at once powerful and refreshing, with notes of almond and apricot. It has a freshness that lasts on the palate.
About the Producer J.A. Ferret
Founded in 1840, Domaine Ferret is located in a natural amphitheatre in Fuissé. Owned since 2008 by Maison Louis Jadot, this 17-hectare vineyard is managed by the talented oenologue Audrey Braccini who carries on the domaine's savoir-faire. The vineyard is mostly split up over the commune of Fuissé and there are significant number of old vines. Add to this low yields and rigorous cultivation inspired by biodynamics. Vinifications are natural and take place on a parcel by parcel basis. The wines are vinified and matured in old oak on the lees. This domaine has become a reference in the Mâconnais and never fails to impress the critics.
