Château Clos des Jacobins Grand Cru Classé 1989
The wine
Rich, full-bodied with medium strength tannins, this wine is a model of complexity. On tasting it is usually richly coloured and well-rounded with a creamy texture. Very consistent, it has the potential to age for 15 years. In 2012 Clos de Jacobins regained Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé status.
About the Producer Château Clos des Jacobins
Clos des Jacobins, a Saint Emilion grand cru classé, and Château de la Commanderie, a Saint-Emilion grand cru, were purchased in 2004 by Thibaut and Magali Decoster. On the sage advice of Hubert de Boüard (of Château Angélus) both vineyards were restructured and rejuvenated.
Clos des Jacobins' vineyard consists of a single block of vines around the winery. Located at the base of a hill, they benefit from the erosion of the plateau which creates a clay and limestone scree.
