Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Thibault Liger-Belair 2018
The wine
Le Clos de Vougeot has a legendary ring to it in the ear of many wine enthusiasts. It conjures up visions of prestige, the vines where it is made growing in the shadow of a 12th century château, a bottle of something truly rare. Thibault Liger-Belair cultivates 0.75 hectares of vines in the south of the appellation, at the point where Clos Vougeot meets Echézeaux. The terroir here is a mosaic of three different kinds of soil. The result? Wines at once fine and powerful.
About the Producer Thibault Liger-Belair
Thibault Liger-Belair took over the family domaine of Nuits-Saint-Georges in 2002, giving it its name. The domaine has been in the family since the 18th century and the trading establishments C. Marey and Comte Liger-Belair have been in existence since 1720. The vineyard spreads over a little over 7 hectares in Richebourg, Vosne-Romanée, Clos-de- Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin. The greatest care is taken of the vines which are worked organically. The wines have already reached a good standard and are one of the rising values of the region, offering wines which combine fine substance and finesse.
