Vouvray Le Compte Marc Julien Vedel 2018
About the Producer Julien Vedel
Julien Vedel’s vineyard, conveniently located on the first slope of the iconic Vouvray appellation, was created in 2011 when he obtained 0.2 hectares of vines from a friend. With a background in viticulture and oenology, Julien spent many years learning the winegrowing trade and all the winemaking techniques at domains in Vouvray and vineyards in Hungary. In 2011, he was still working for the renowned Foreau domain while tending to his own vines in his spare time. Julien cultivates his land by following the lunar calendar and applying biodynamic principles, convinced of the benefits for both vines and wine, and bearing in mind that the vines he leases have already been farmed organically for over a decade. As a result, he works with the highest quality raw materials grown on old vines, some of which are over a hundred years old. Julien is undoubtedly a genuine artist, producing around three barrels of wine annually. This limited production is the result of a rigorous and natural process, which expresses the specific characteristics of the terroir perfectly.
