Château Grand Puy Lacoste 5ème Grand Cru Classé 1981
The wine
Grand-Puy Lacoste's vineyard is planted on gravelly soil and has the particularity of not having any Cabernet Franc. The resulting wines have a great capacity to age. Richly-coloured, tannic, vigorous and full-bodied, they are considered to be a perfect example of classic Pauillac. In good vintages they can rival the Médoc's finest wines.
About the Producer Château Grand Puy Lacoste
Located on the Bages plateau in Pauillac, this château results of the division of the immense domain Grand-Puy Lacoste in the 18th century into Château Lynch-Bages and Château Grand Puy Ducasse. Classified fifth growth in 1855, François-Xavier Borie managed to raise Grand-Puy Lacoste among the best of the appellation. The second wine of the property is called Lacoste-Borie.
