Alsace Pinot Noir Bildstoeckle Gérard Schueller (Domaine) 2016
The wine
This pure Pinot noir comes from Alsace domain Gérard Schueller, an ambitious producer not yet well-known of the wider public. The cuvée comes from the lieu-dit Bildstoeckle, where the thirty-year-old vines grow in a chalky terroir. The grapes are left to ripen well before being harvested at optimal maturity.
The grapes macerate for around three weeks before maturing for two years in demi-muids. There is no sulphur added and the wine is not filtered.
This cuvée has a nice acidity and a strong character. It is balanced and deep with aromas of red fruit, especially strawberry.
