Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Vergelesses Simon Bize & Fils 2002
The wine
Aux Vergelesses Rouge features among the top premier crus for this appellation, and is a wine which should be aged for a long time. On the nose it evokes aromas of red fruit and undergrowth. On the palate it demonstrates great focus with tightly-knit tannins and reveals autumnal, undergrowth flavours.
About the Producer Simon Bize et Fils
Simon Bize created his domaine in 1880 in Savigny les Beaune. Four generations later, Patrick Bize took over the family domaine in 1972 and managed it until he passed away in 2013, when his sister, Marielle Grivot, took over. The quality of the wines is consistent, with fine reds, sublime and very precise white wines. This 22-hectare area produces small quantities and maintains reasonable prices, which therefore limits its availability.
