Gevrey-Chambertin Claude Dugat 2005
The wine
The Domaine’s Gevrey Village is very appealing, even when young. The nose is outstandingly fruity, immediately evoking morello cherry or fruits of the forest. The palate is elegant, complex and full. A superb Gevrey.
About the Producer Claude Dugat
Claude Dugat, now of worldwide acclaim, produces an infinitesimal quantity of high-quality wines on the terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin. In this carefully cultivated domaine, the yields are microscopic and the vinification leaves little room for intervention: no clarifying nor filtration is conducted on these wines whose domaine produces, in its most prosperous years, a mere 50 cases of Griotte Chambertin and 100 of Charmes Chambertin. Wine for aging, these rich and complex wines show great consistency over the whole range, even in the small vintages. Mainly reserved for dilettantes, they cannot be found in traditional circuits.
