Echezeaux Grand Cru Christian Clerget 2005
The wine
Échézeaux is produced from a parcel in the Orveaux climat, just above Clos de Vougeot. It is élevaged in oak for 18 months (50% new wood, the remainder one or two vintages old). The wine combines power and elegance perfectly. The nose evokes aromas of red fruit, blueberry and blackberry with lightly wooded notes in the background. After opening cleanly on the palate, a fruity and well-balanced wine emerges with defined but softened tannins. This very nice wine pairs beautifully with red meat and game dishes.
About the Producer Christian Clerget
Together, Christian and Isabelle Clerget manage the 6 hectare domaine in the heart of the Côte de Nuits (between Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-St-Denis, Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée). Their work on the vine is particularly careful and their philosophy is close to organic. The wines are of a very fine standard, with a lot of complexity and balance and have good aging potential.
