Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Stéphane Magnien (Domaine) 2013
The wine
This Charmes-Chambertin is a unique wine, produced in a village adjoining Gevrey-Chambertin. Impressive and explosive, its aromas have great complexity with a melange of spicy, earthy, toasted notes and notes of ripe fruit. This Grand Cru delivers amazing length on the palate and can definitely be aged over a long period.
About the Producer Stéphane Magnien
It was the great-grandfather of the current wine grower Stéphane Magnien who founded the family domaine. The small (4.5 hectares) vineyard is located in the heart of the village of Morey Saint Denis. For four generations, the vines have been carefully worked, with ploughing and without any weed control, the aim being to maximise the expression of terroirs. The élevage lasts 14 to 24 months in oak barrels and the wines are neither glued nor filtered. Stéphane Magnien’s wines are very classical, refined and delicate.
