Vin de Corse Calvi Lume Domaine Alzipratu 2014
The wine
The vineyards in the "Vins de Corse" appellation cover nearly 2000 hectares. Depending on the regions and the properties, the proportions of the various grape varieties, combined with the different types of soil, result a range of characteristics that in most cases justify the mentioning of a sub-region, whose name is combined with the appellation (Coteaux du Cap Corse, Calvi, Figari, Porto-Vecchio, Sartène). These wines can be produced anywhere in Corsica, except in the Patrimonio area. The red wines, which account for most of the production, are made from Nielluccio and Sciacarello, combined with Grenache and Syrah. Silky and aromatic, they are quite persistent on the palate. The white wines are light and floral, with a base of Vermentino (or Malvoise de Corse); structured without being aggressive, they present notes of citrus and exotic fruit. Finally the rosés, made from Sciacarello, Nielluccio and Grenache are fresh and direct, with a slightly peppery acidity.
