Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Maltroye Jean-Noël Gagnard (Domaine) 2011
The wine
Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard has here crafted a Chassagne-Montrachet of flawless quality. It comes from the premier cru La Maltroie, and the Chardonnay used to make it enjoys an oceanic climate as well as soil rich in chalk and marl.
This wine has a yellow hue with hints of gold. Its aromatic bouquet is richly floral (acacia, lime tree, honeysuckle, hawthorn) with fruity and mineral notes. It is frank on the palate with a lovely texture. The balance of a well-controlled acidity confers freshness to the cuvée, as well as good ageing potential.
We recommend keeping this wine in the cellar for around ten years. It will then pair with delicate dishes such as citrus scallops, salmon in a butter sauce, or even a Thai dish involving spices and coconut milk.
