Château Ferrière 3ème Grand Cru Classé 2002
The wine
Château Ferrière produces a dense, tannic Margaux which becomes more refined with age. Manual harvests and maturing for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels (50% new) enable the production of an elegant, concentrated wine. The nose reveals floral aromas while the tannins are plump and well-integrated. Very structured, it has excellent length on the palate. Note that an interesting second wine is also produced: Remparts de Ferrière.
About the Producer Château Ferrière
Château Ferrière was named after its founder Gabriel Ferrière, wo lived during the 18th century. This fifth classified growth absorbed during the 20th century for 50 years by Lascombes, regained its identity with the 1992 vintage when it was bought by the Villars family in 1988. Thanks to Claire Villars-Lurton’s management, the château enjoys renewed success year after year. With plots of 18 hectares, perfectly situated in Margaux, this domain is able to compete with its neighbours.
