Gevrey-Chambertin En Derée Vieille Vigne Denis Mortet (Domaine) 2001
About the Producer Denis Mortet
Established in 1991 when the vineyards of Charles Mortet (Denis's father) were divided up, the domain (which has the same name), covers all the appellations from the commune of Gevrey to produce an annual total of 55,000 bottles. The ancient vines grow on terroir that is typical of the region, and the yields are ruthlessly controlled and grape berries are meticulously sorted twice to ensure regularity. Already mythic, the bottles of this great winemaker, who died prematurely (Denis Mortet died in february 2006), will continue to enchant connoisseurs of great, authentic Burgundy wine for a very long time. Today, the domain is directed by his son Arnaud Mortet. Brilliant winemaker, he made a slight change in the style of the wines, they are slightly less concentrated but reveal more finesse. He does not talk about extraction but 'infusion' for his viticulture method. One of the stars from Côte de Nuits.
