Lot presentation

Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre Corps de Garde Goisot 2002

The wine

This estate is located in the Côtes d'Auxerre in Saint-Bris Le Vineux, a village situated between Saint-Bris and Irancy and shares two distinctive features with Chablis. They both have limestone soil and can both grow Sauvignon Blanc as well as Chardonnay. It is a small rarity as it is one of the only places in Burgundy where the appellation does not have to be planted with either Chardonnay or Pinot Noir.
The estate might date back to the 14th century, but it is built on much older cellars, maybe dating back to the 11th or 12th century.
The wines produced by Goisot are beautifully outspoken, well-balanced and of wonderful quality. The wine is so energetic and powerful that the estate recommends not to drink the wine until it has aged for four years so that the wine can benefit from integrated ageing and relax, making it more supple. This will then reveal the best limestone from its terroir. A beautiful Chardonnay, grown using biodynamic methods.

About the Producer Goisot

The story of Domaine Goisot goes back to the 14th century. It has vines in the Auxerre area in Saint-Bris and Irancy. Jean-Hugues and Gilhem Goisot chose biodynamic viticulture as the best way to respect the upper Jurassic marl, limestone terroir very similar to that of Chablis. Their motto is that a good wine cannot be made without good grapes. Vinifications are traditional, with minimal intervention to best express their much cared-for terroir.
