Toscane Montevertine Le Pergole Torte Famille Manetti 1998
The wine
Pergolo Torte is produced from Sangiovese and matured in oak barrels. The bouquet produces attractive tart fruit aromas and slightly animal tobacco notes. The palate immediately makes itself felt with plenty of body and a strong yet refined tannic structure, combined with attractive acidity, ending with excellent length.
About the Producer Montevertine
The Montevertine domaine is located in the Chianti region. Sergio Manetti bought this land in the late 1960s as a second home. He then planted vines and set up a little cellar with a view to producing a small amount of wine for personal consumption and for family and friends. Eventually, after his first vintage (1971), he decided to enter his wine in competitions where it was well received. This steel producer therefore decided to devote himself full-time to his vineyard until his death in 2000. His son Martino Manetti, has taken over the reins of the domaine. The vineyards span 18 hectares, at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. Martino Manetti rejects international grape varieties and tends his terroir with loving care. The vines are cultivated using biodynamic practices, although Martino has not sought formal certification.
