The wine
Château du Tertre's wine is full-bodied with rich fruit, and develops the subtle aromas of violets that are characteristic of the appellation. It is powerful and perfectly balanced.
About the Producer Château du Tertre
Located on the higher ground in the appellation, Château du Tertre's vineyard, with gravelly, sandy soil, has the particularity of being a single block of vines entirely surrounded by forest. Several illustrious owners have left their mark on the property. The most prestigious include philosopher Michel de Montaigne's brother Thomas, and the Marquis de Ségur. In 1960 the vineyard was purchased by the Capbern Gasqueton family, the owners of Calon Ségur. The property was given a new lease of life in 1997, when it was purchased by Eric Albada Jelgersma. The Dutch businessman was already familiar with Margaux, having acquired Château Giscours a few years previously.
