Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry 3ème Grand Cru Classé 2003
The wine
The neighbor of Margaux produces a superb wine, one of the finest of the appellation. It is now consistent. The mouth shows a superb concentration, with very fine tannins. A wine that requires between 8 and 20 years of maturing to be at its summit.
About the Producer Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry
The name of this property is taken from two former owners: Malescot and Saint Exupéry, the grandfather of the famous aviator-writer. Château Malescot Saint Exupéry adjoins part of Château Margaux's vineyard. The soil in the vineyard consists of Pyrenean gravel. After a period of producing relatively disappointing wines between 1960 and 1980, the current owners focused their efforts on improving quality. From the beginning of the 1990s, the wines, with aromas of red fruit, have become richer and more intense, and have been more consistent. They are also now refined, offering a more delicate body.
