Lot presentation

Montlouis-sur-Loire Touche Mitaine Le Rocher des Violettes 2020

The wine

The four hectares of Chenin from which this cuvée is produced lie in the Saint Martin Le Beau municipality. Harvest are carried out by hand, with several passages through the vineyards. Fermentations are carried out in casks used for 5-1 wines (3/4) and the other quarter in stainless steel vats. The wines are then matured for seven months. Le Touche Mitaine is a tender, dry wine with great aromatic finesse (white and yellow fruits). On the palate, the wine has a lovely minerality imparted by the clay and flint soils. Enjoy this wine young if you’re looking for freshness; after a few years it will reveal its full complexity.

About the Producer Domaine du Rocher des Violettes

Xavier Weisskopf established Domaine Rocher des Violettes in 2005. He was born in the Oise region in 1979 and trained as a winegrower in Chablis. He continued his apprenticeship in Beaune where he became cellar master at Gigondas before creating his own property. His vineyard parcels are dotted around the commune of Saint-Martin-Le-Beau with 9 hectares in Montlouis and 4 hectares in the Touraine AOP. The vines are mature in age and Xavier Weisskopf does not use chemical fertilisers or products. Harvests are carried out by hand and every effort is made to limit oxidation and to preserve the wines’ integrity. If you have not already done so, it is well worth trying these wines which are currently superb.
