The wine
To craft this cuvée, the Perrin family managed vinifications for this domain, owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Directly from the vineyard, the Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle, and Tibouren grapes were pressed. The Cinsault and Tibouren were vinified in stainless steel vats, and the Grenache and Rolle in concrete containers. The latter are egg-shaped, allowing for the lees to move around and fully benefit from stirring.
This process creates a wine that is particularly chewy, balanced by a nice freshness and a lightly saline finish.
This cuvée can be enjoyed from today with fleshy fish like salmon or tuna, or a summer salad of quinoa, guacamole, feta, and pomegranate seeds.
About the Producer Miraval
You perhaps didn’t expect to hear us talking about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at iDealwine…but there’s a first time for everything! The Hollywood stars got their hands on the magnificent Provençal Château Miraval in Correns (Var) a few years ago. Not being wine experts themselves, they entrusted the Perrin family, a veritable Rhône institution, to guide them. Much more than a whim, the wines produced here have now attained worldwide recognition, and the estate’s rosé was awarded World’s Best Rosé by the trustworthy Wine Spectator. In the glass, we find all the finesse and elegance that we love in a regional rosé thanks to their delicate vinification process.
Miraval is also a location closely linked to the arts by its owners, who seek to continue doing so, in particular with the famous Studio Miraval – a recording studio founded in 1977 and frequented by some of the greatest artists of its time – but also with sculpture and painting. Surrounded by pines, olive trees, oaks and vines, this Provençal château is definitely in a class of its own, under the spotlight, often only a short distance away. In 2020, the Pitt family teamed up with Champagne house Pierre Peters to produce a rosé Champagne. The only Champagne house to produce exclusively rosé Champagne.
