Mâcon-Clessé Cuvée Levroutée Domaine de la Bongran (J.Thevenet) 1983
The wine
This cuvée is the result of the vinification of Chardonnay grown on clay-limestone and marly soils. This wine is a real gem : only produced twice or three times a year, it has been made from over ripe berries, some even botrytised. Yield is low (15 hl/ha), there is very little intervention in the vinification to allow the fruit to express the purity of its aromas. The élevage takes place in oak foudres for 18 months. A great wine for aging, this wine unfurls deliciously rich notes varying between fruit, honey and flowers. The palate is creamy, full-bodied, generous and lingers well.
