Lot presentation

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Le Cailleret Michel Bouzereau et Fils (Domaine) 2002

The wine

The Bouzereau family has been growing vines in Meursault for seven generations. Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau is now in charge of this ten-hectare vineyard, including some magnificent terroirs. His wines are precise, elegant and drinkable; and although the grower may be unassuming, the wines he produces still earn plaudits from critics.
Le Cailleret Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru has a powerful, elegant bouquet with aromas of citrus and yellow fruit and hazelnut notes. The palate reveals attractive concentration and a creamy fullness, but also acidity, giving the wine excellent balance. The fresh, fruity finish offers superb length with attractive bitter notes.

About the Producer Michel Bouzereau et Fils

In 1999, Jean-Baptiste officially took over Domaine Michel Bouzereau, proudly adding ‘et fils' to the estate name. This producer inherited a well-established family history, since the Bouzereaus have been making wine in Meursault for 7 generations. Observant and attentive, Jean-Baptiste spends most of his time in the vineyard, carefully watching the vines and working on the soil, convinced as he is that healthy fruit is the key to fine wine. The vines are grown sustainably with a philosophy moving towards organics. In 2008, he finished working on his new winery, giving him much more space to take care of each of his cuvées individually and adapt to their rhythm. The wines all come from parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Pommard and Volnay, each of them increasingly appreciated for their elegance and finesse. Each of them respect the specificity of terroir and vintage.
