One of the finest rosés in the world. Its saline contours and vinous texture metamorphose into a fine wine after a decade ageing. A Bandol jewel.

Lot presentation

Bandol Terrebrune (Domaine de) 2023

The wine

Created in the 1960s by Georges Delille, this Bandol estate located in Ollioules, an isolated village near Toulon, creates exceptional wines. It sits on marl, clay and limestone soils dating back to the Triassic period, unique for the region. The property’s styles differ greatly from others in the region and play on the powerful side of Mourvèdre and the Provençal sun helps create wines that are sometimes eccentric and opulent.
This rosé is a true giant! Probably one of the most beautiful French rosés, it is capable of improving after a decade. Composed of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault, it releases fresh fruit, herbaceous and stone-like notes. Its remarkably classy palate and exemplary tautness could cause it to be confused with a white or red wine when tasting it blind. But more withdrawn in its youth, ageing it for ten years will allow it to blossom and transform into a fine wine. And the results are magnificent with the wine revealing spiced, chocolate and phenomenal fruit aromas. The persistent on the palate is incredible and we have to admit that we have a soft spot for the splendid 2008 vintage. An extremely fine wine.

About the Producer Domaine de Terrebrune

Founded at the end of the 1960s, Domaine de Terrebrune is located at the far south-east of Provence’s Bandol appellation, in the commune of Ollioule. A nature-friendly ethos is applied across the 30 hectares of vineyard, and the plants are thus cultivated organically. The soil there is rich in marl, clay, and chalk, conferring a singular character to the resulting wine. The red has a certain freshness that balances out the heat of a typical southern wine. As for the white and rosé cuvées, they can be aged for up to a decade in the cellar. Every year, almost 120,000 bottles are produced under the capable hands of Jean d’Arthuys, with wines made from Grenache noir, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre in red, and Marsanne, Rolle, Ugni blanc, Bourboulenc, and Clairette in white.
