Château Pibran 1987
The wine
Through its different vintages, the grand vin of Pibran expresses all the characteristics of this exceptional terroir. Cedar, licorice, blackberry appear on the nose. On the palette, it is a classical Pauillac but softer than its more prestigious neighbours with a high percentage of merlot (over 50%) which is led to reduce. In classical vintages, it can be tasted after five to ten years of aging. In great vintages, it can be laid down for 15 to 20 years.
About the Producer Château Pibran
Pibran is located very near the domaines of Mouton Rothschild, Pontet-Canet and Lynch-Bages. The 10ha vineyard of this renowned cru lies on one of the finest hilltops in the commune of Pauillac, in the Médoc. Acquired by AXA Millésimes, (which also owns Pichon-Baron in Pauillac) it thus benefits from the expertise of an experienced team and advanced technology. This domaine has proved itself to be a true Pauillac. Thanks to the investments allowed by AXA Millésimes and the expertise of the teams of Pichon-Baron, the wines of Pibran are increasingly refined. Its prices remain fair considering the appellation so connoisseurs will be interested. The domaine’s second wine is called la Tour Pibran.
