Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire Mestre 1993
The wine
To the south of the Côte de Beaune, Santenay is spread over 378 hectares. Dominated by the Trois-Crois mountain, the village of Santenay is celebreated for its wines as well as its waters (thanks to its “salted” fountain). White wines produced in the appellation (a mere 10% of production) are produced in the municipalities of Santenay and Rémilly. The clay-limestone terroir lends fruitiness and finesse that, when combined with an élevage in oak barrels, make white Santenay a great wine, dry and full-bodied, with very developed fragrances.
