Lot presentation

Chambertin Grand Cru Clos De Bèze Chanson 2015

The wine

An iconic and historic Burgundy estate that has seduced many personalities over the centuries, Chanson brings us this Chambertin from the Clos de Bèze Grand Cru. The Pinot Noir grapes used to produce this wine have drawn the nutrients they required to flourish in soils consisting of clay and limestone, rich with stones. The vineyard is located at the top of a slope, ideally facing east, benefiting from an oceanic climate with a semi-continental influence.
The wine is aged in oak casks for a year and a half, following a thorough vinification and careful extraction to achieve a fine balance between body and fine tannins. Designed for laying down for at least 15 years, this wine boasts a dense, relatively dark colour, bursting with notes of red and black fruits, brandied cherries and sweet spices reminiscent of cinnamon and vanilla. The round, pleasant tannins linger for a long time, making it a perfect partner for characterful dishes.

About the Producer Chanson

Located in Beaune, the Chanson Père et Fils house was founded in 1750 by Simon Verry. It was then taken over by Nicolas Chanson in the 19th century, who developed the house’swinemaking activity and gave it its current name. It was purchased in 1999 by the Bollinger group; the vineyard now spans 45 hectares. The vines are grown organically, and the soils tilled; in the winery, a high proportion of stems is retained. The wines (especially reds) are of great quality and amply reward cellaring.
