Colchagua Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2012
The wine
Le Clos Apalta is, indisputably, one of Chile's most famous and best regarded wines. This cuvée is aged in oak barrels for 24 months. The nose opens out over aromas of red and dark fruits (cherry, fig, plum), with spicy (pepper) and mocha notes. The palate is concentrated, with velvety tannins and delicious fruit, and the finish has wonderful length.
About the Producer Casa Lapostolle
La Casa Lapostolle is a relatively new domaine, created in 1994 by a French couple, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet. Located in Cunaco, near de Santa Cruz, it spans some 370 hectares. The family, which already had an established reputation in France for its Grand Marnier liqueurs, has moved on from liqueurs and spirits and excelled itself in the fine wine market. The Lapostolle domaine has very quickly made a huge name for itself worldwide. This tallies with the aim it set itself at the very outset: to produce haute-couture wines using French know-how and expertise in the best terroirs Chile has to offer. The gamble has undoubtedly paid off!
