Château Le Coteau Cru Bourgeois 2008
The wine
A neighbour to grands crus like Château Rauzan Ségla and Château Prieuré Lichine, Château Le Coteau has 12 hectares of vines in the Margaux area. Planted on a gravel terroir typical of the Médoc, all the work on the vines is carried out entirely by hand. No insecticide is used in the vineyard and the grapes are picked manually. The wine is made up of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. It is vinified traditionally with a maturation of around 16 months. The nose of this cuvée is mellow with complex notes of spice and candied fruit. It has a flavourful palate dominated by notes of redcurrant and blueberry. You can keep this cuvée for 5-10 years.
