Gattinara DOCG Nervi 1971
The wine
Gattinara Nervi is produced from parcels located between 290 and 425 metres above sea level. It is aged for at least 36 months in oak barrels. The first nose delivers a heady blend of old leather, orange and dried flowers. This is followed by truffle and cep mushrooms. This very silky wine is truly captivating.
About the Producer Nervi
Nervi is the oldest working domaine in Gattinara, a village in the northern Piedmont. The volcanic soil gives the Nebbiolo grapes (known locally as “spanna”) an outstanding subtlety. The aromas of the wine reap the benefit of the temperate climate in these beautiful hills which are sheltered from the north winds by the Monte Rose massif and protected from the summer heat by their good height above sea level. While it is not among the big-hitters Nervi, probably produces some of the finest wines in Italy from its 24 hectares of vines.
